“Making
the adjustment from a poor, urban high school with low aspirations
from the body of students there to this academic, ivy-league setting
was a major adjustment, especially regarding my performance in class.
In high school, I was at the top; at Rochester I had to do a lot
of extra work—extra reading, extra assignments, get a tutor.
I felt like I was at the bottom of the class and struggling to climb
up. I’m still adjusting.” |
