1952
Michael Telesca received the 2006 Edwin F. Jaeckle
Award from the University at Buffalo law school and the school’s alumni
association last November. The highest honor that the school and the association
bestows, the award is given annually to someone who has made significant contributions
to the school and to the legal profession. He also received an award from the
Rochester Education Foundation for his commitment to Rochester city school students.
1955
Robert Stern ’62E (PhD) sends an update: Hazkarah, his
composition for cello and string orchestra, had its New York premiere last
October at the Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall with Matt Haimovitz
on cello and Li Jian conducting the Orchestra of St. Luke’s. And his
oratorio Shofar had its world premiere last November at Sanders Theatre
in Cambridge, Mass., with Deborah Rentz-Moore (soprano), Frank Kelley (tenor),
David Kravitz and Donald Wilkinson (bass), Coro Allegro, and artistic director
David Hodgkins.

Robert O’Brien is the author of Barbed-Wire
Battleground (Trafford Publishing), a book about the Korean War. He writes, “At
a time when North Korea has assumed a threatening posture, this book reveals
the mindset of the North Korean military during the Korean War, a mindset they
still exhibit to this day.”
