Paula Lapin sends an update: She moved to Rochester in fall 2005 to join her fianc, Bob Zeman, whom she married in May 2006. Paula, who will keep her name professionally, joined Fix Spindelman Brovitz and Goldman in late 2005 and after one year was named a partner. Paula writes, “I have never been happier. Imagine coming to live in Rochester, 30-plus years after graduating, and finding it to be such a great place to live. My social life and professional life are wonderful and I can walk to work!” . . . Mara Sapon-Shevin ’76W (EdD) has published Widening the Circle: The Power of Inclusive Classrooms (Beacon Press), in which she argues that creating school communities in which all students—regardless of race, family background, disability or other perceived differences—can participate is a matter of social justice. Mara is a professor of inclusive education at Syracuse University. 1973 Barry ’79M (PhD) and Rebecca Belkin Rosenstein ’74 announce the birth of their third grandchild, Gabriella Ilana Saks, born on June 5, 2006. Gabriella is sister to Joshua Daniel, 2, and cousin to Eliana Orit Hefetz, 1. 1976 Kenneth Friedman, a partner in the corporate and securities practice group at the Buffalo office of the law firm Hodgson Russ, has been elected president of the board of the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society.

Jonathan Hertzel has been awarded a commission to create a large-scale bronze sculpture for an exclusive residential community in suburban Atlanta. He sends a photo of himself beside the 15-foot bronze, titled “Rooted Family.” Jonathan is currently represented and has exhibited with the Lowe Gallery in Atlanta and Santa Monica, Calif. 1978 Michelle Viggiano Bryan has been named senior vice president of human resources at Intelsat, a satellite services company. 1979 Bob Bly writes that he has published his 70th book, Blog, Schmog: The Truth About What Blogs Can (And Can’t) Do for Your Business (Thomas Nelson). . . . Jon Pachter writes that he is the senior director of cancer biology at OSI Pharmaceuticals in Farmingdale, N.Y. He lives on Long Island with his wife, Wendy, and their three children, ages 16, 14, and 9. |
