The trip was part of a series of run-out tours organized by Howard Hanson (fourth from right in the top row), then director of the Eastman School of Music. While in DC, Hanson conducted the orchestra in a concert at Howard University, with William Warfield ’42E, ’46E (MM) as soloist.
