Accelerating the U.S. semiconductor ecosystem in Upstate New York.
The CHIPS and Science Act is fueling a new era of American innovation—strengthening leadership in semiconductors, advanced manufacturing, regional technology ecosystems, and workforce development.
Nowhere is that momentum stronger than in Upstate New York, where Rochester, Buffalo, and Syracuse have joined forces to form the NY SMART I-Corridor—a nationally recognized Tech Hub designed to make our region a global powerhouse for semiconductor research, manufacturing, and commercialization.
Bringing together more than 100 partners—including universities, manufacturers, startups, and community organizations—and working to transform Upstate New York into the beating heart of the U.S. semiconductor industry, the NY SMART I-Corridor focuses on three interconnected pillars designed to accelerate discovery, growth, and talent across the semiconductor landscape:
Commercialization & Collaboration Center (C3)
A one-stop innovation shop that helps businesses bring new semiconductor technologies to market by leveraging research assets.
Supply Chain Activation Network (SCAN)
Helps existing and potential suppliers scale up in the semiconductor ecosystem.
Semiconductor Talent & Employer Partnership (STEP UP)
A unified front door for employers to access talent pipelines across the region.
As part of the Commercialization & Collaboration Center (C3) pillar, and to spark collaboration between industry and academia, the Corridor has launched the NY THRIVE Innovation Vouchers program designed to connect businesses with cutting-edge research facilities, specialized equipment, and expert technical support.
