Manager for International Travel and Security
Alan Ryon is the Manager for International Travel and Security in the Office for Global Engagement at the University of Rochester, serving under the supervision and direction of the Vice Provost for Global Engagement. He is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing policies, procedures, and programs that promote safety and transformative learning experiences as well as mitigate international travel risks. He also provides guidance and expertise to all students, faculty, and staff who travel internationally and ensures responses to incidents abroad are managed appropriately.
Previously, he worked as a security manager for a private risk management company supporting U.S. government operations in Afghanistan. He entered the private sector after serving in the U.S. Marine Corps Infantry as a Staff Sergeant. He has a B.A. in Security Management from American Military University and a M.P.S. in Security and Safety Leadership from George Washington University.
