Transcending loss, tragedy, self-righteous hatred: An evening with Izzeldin Abuelaish

ABOUT IZZELDIN ABUELAISH: Abuelaish, a three-time Nobel Peace Prize nominee, is a Palestinian physician and a human rights and peace activist.

He founded the Daughters for Life Foundation in memory of three of his daughters, who were killed by Israeli tank fire during the 2009 Gaza War. The organization provides scholarship awards to encourage young women to pursue their studies at universities in Palestine, Israel, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, and Syria.

'I Shall Not Hate' book coverAbuelaish, who is currently an assistant professor at the University of Toronto, is the author of I Shall Not Hate: A Gaza Doctor’s Journey on the Road to Peace and Human Dignity.

Copies of Abuelaish’s book, I Shall Not Hate, will be available for purchase at the event. Hardcover books are $24; softcover cover books are $16 each. Cash, checks, and credit cards will be accepted. Abuelaish will be available during the reception for book signing.

ADMISSION: The talk and reception are free and open to the public. Parking is free in the Trustee, Intercampus, and other lots after 7 p.m. Please respect restricted parking signs. A campus map is available here.
