IN MEMORIAM

Charles Plosser, former Simon dean, remembered

Charles Plosser, the John M. Olin Distinguished Professor of Economics and Public Policy and former dean of Simon Business School, is being remembered for his lasting legacy at the University and in the broader field of economics—particularly for how his influential work on real business cycles reshaped modern macroeconomic thought. Plosser, who joined the University faculty in July 1978, died on August 14. University flags on the Eastman Quadrangle and near the entrance of Strong Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department will be lowered on Thursday, September 25.

‘Paws for Stress Relief’ tonight

Come pet the pups! Paws for Stress Relief brings therapy dogs to campus for students to spend time with. This monthly program will take place today, September 8, in the Goergen Athletic Center from 6 to 7:15 p.m. The Health Promotion Office also provides educational information, activities, and stress-relief giveaways such as lavender sachets or stress balls.

Find mentorship through the Meliora Collective

Students can get personalized career mentorship through the Meliora Collective’s three-month fall mentorship program, which pairs individuals with mentors based on their career interests and goals. Mentors and mentees will be matched on September 30; register by Sunday, September 21. Learn more about the program.

Class offers commuter tips for biking and walking

Boost your biking skills with “Wheels on Wednesday,” a monthly series of free, 15-minute online classes covering various cycling topics. “Commuter Tips for Biking and Walking” will be held via Zoom on Wednesday, September 17, from noon to 12:15 p.m. Get gear and route-planning tips for commuting by bike or foot.
