Eastman School of Music alumni receive Grammy nominations
Take a study break and learn about creating a compassionate relationship with food and your body while making charcuterie boards. There will be fruits, nuts, crackers, hummus, honey ham, hot chocolate, tea, and the first screening for the Nourish to Flourish mini-documentary about mindful eating. The event takes place Saturday, December 4, from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Douglass Community Kitchen and is open to all undergraduate students. Registration is required.
Find writing help at ‘Night to Write’
At “Night to Write,” AS&E students will find snacks, coffee, and company to help fuel productivity and fight end-of-semester procrastination. Writing tutors and librarians will be available to help and answer questions. Drop in and write as long as you would like on Monday, December 6, from 7 to 10 p.m. in the Hawkins-Carlson Room, Rush Rhees Library.
Receive an introduction to and learn the benefits of mindfulness and meditation on Tuesday, December 14, at noon EST. Participants will engage in a mindful breathing exercise and a 10-minute guided meditation. Register for this virtual session.
Apply to the Geriatrics Faculty Scholars Program
The Aging Institute, Division of Geriatrics and Aging, and the Finger Lakes Geriatric Education Center are accepting applications for the 2022 Geriatric Faculty Scholars Program. The program is open to junior and mid-career academic faculty from the School of Nursing and School of Medicine and Dentistry with an interest in aging who wish to spearhead program development through geriatric education within their school, program, division, or department. New Dean's Lectureship Series highlights Medical Center, international experts
Vera Gorbunova, the Doris Johns Cherry Professor in the Department of Biology and codirector of the Rochester Aging Research Center, will give the inaugural lecture of the Medical Center’s newly established Dean’s Lectureship Series. The lectures will provide University faculty, students, and staff the chance to hear from both international experts and the best that the School of Medicine and Dentistry has to offer on a broad range of topics. Gorbunova’s talk, “Mechanisms of Longevity: Lessons from Long-Lived Mammals,” takes place Monday, December 6, at 4 p.m. in the Class of ’62 Auditorium (G-9425), Medical Center. The Rochester Police Department and other first responders joined Golisano Children’s Hospital earlier this week to kick off the fourth annual “Good Night Lights.” The lights will continue every Wednesday through December 22.
