TODAY’S UPDATES

There are 10 positive cases among students to report: three on the Eastman Campus, one on the Medical Campus, and six on the River Campus. Please note that the University’s COVID-19 Dashboard is updated when a new case is reported. Find the latest COVID-19 messages and updates here.

Cam Schauf, director of campus dining services and auxiliary operations, to retire

Cam Schauf, director of campus dining services and auxiliary operations, has announced that he will retire later this summer, before the start of the next academic year.

In his role, which includes dining services for the River Campus and the Eastman School of Music and auxiliary services throughout the University, Schauf has guided the institution through considerable challenges and growth. Most recently, he and his team navigated the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure that students, faculty, and staff had dining options available to them, even in the face of staffing shortages, supply chain issues, and changing public health policies. Through it all, Schauf says he gained an even deeper appreciation for his staff and colleagues. “The past two years have strengthened my belief in what a fantastic group of people we have working in dining services,” he says. “I want to make sure that we all stop to appreciate those who showed up every day, day in day out, to ensure we could provide service to all aspects of this institution.”

Interim Provost Sarah Peyre says she will miss Schauf’s commitment to the University and its students. “Cam is the embodiment of dedication,” she says. “We owe him a debt of gratitude for the many ways he has cared for our students and the entire University community.” Schauf says retirement will mean more time with his grandchildren and his work in the community with groups like the West Side Farmer’s Market and the Healthi Kids program.
