Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, more people have turned to reading—for comfort, for escape, or for learning. Still others, including a significant number of University faculty and staff from across disciplines, turned to writing. If you’ve been looking to add a little Rochester to your to-read list, here are a few handpicked selections featured in Rochester Review.

World Universities Network research development fund 2022
The World Universities Network research development fund 2022 is now open. The annual competitive fund is aimed at bringing together researchers to undertake innovative, high-quality, sustainable research that addresses global challenges. Each member institution is permitted to lead two proposals per year but can collaborate on as many as desired. If you are interested in leading a proposal effort or would like more information, contact Megan Bennett-Spears. View the guidelines and more information on the Global website. Internal applications are due Monday, September 12.
Tuition reimbursement reminder
Faculty and staff: To ensure timely tuition reimbursement for the summer 2022 semester, proof of tuition cost, payment, and successful course completion need to be received by the Office of Total Rewards via email no later than 90 days following course completion. Find more information here.
The Department of Psychiatry’s final 75th Anniversary Webinar, “The Future of Biopsychosocial Caring, Discovering, and Learning,” takes place on Tuesday, August 30, from 6 to 7:15 p.m. EDT. Join Memorial Art Gallery on Thursday, August 25, from 7 to 8:30 p.m, for “Remnants,” an evening of collaboration in the museum’s Centennial Sculpture Park. Designed as an immersive experience, the audience is invited to join in moving through the space, listen to stories, watch the dancers, and wander among the photographs. This program is in conjunction with the Sky Hopinka: Memories of Movement exhibition, on view in the Media Arts Watch Gallery through January 8. Find more information and purchase tickets here.
Face masks are optional for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors indoors. Patient care areas, as well as University shuttles and transportation, continue to require masking. A full description of Medical Center masking requirements is available on the URMC Intranet (University network access required).
