Mobile CPR training station available at Eastview Mall
Last January, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) helped save Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin, bringing heightened awareness to the power of CPR during cardiac arrest. UR Medicine and the American Heart Association are expanding CPR readiness in the Rochester and Finger Lakes region with the placement of a mobile, hands-only CPR training station at Eastview Mall, located near the mall entrance to Dick’s House of Sport through January 31.
HR Modernization: New CPM job and pay structures launch January 31
The University is nearing completion of a key milestone in its HR Modernization effort and the completion of the multi-year Career Path Modernization (CPM) project to transform how the University hires, pays, develops, and advances its workforce. Beginning January 31, the University will launch a clear, easy-to-understand job and pay structure that aligns jobs, levels, and positions across the institution to deliver consistency, equity, and transparency to a wide variety of opportunities, roles, and career paths. Managers will begin meeting with staff in mid-January to share individual job information. Staff will have access to their new job information in HRMS including the new job catalog on January 31.
To prepare for these changes, training on the new job and pay structures is available in MyPath by searching for the playlist “CPMPlaylist”. To learn more, visit the updated resources available on the CPM website.
Generative AI teaching workshop
Generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools such as ChatGPT are changing the higher educational landscape. This workshop will provide a brief overview of the latest trends and practical applications of generative AI, explore relevant teaching and learning principles, discuss ethical concerns, and devote the majority of the time to Q&A. Cosponsored by the Teaching Center, Academic Honesty, the Department of Computer Science, the River Campus Libraries, and the Writing, Speaking, and Argument Program. Topics for this course include computational hardware and Linux; languages and packages for statistical analysis and visualization; parallel computing and Spark; libraries for machine learning and deep learning; databases including NoSQL; and cloud services.
