Sarah Mumford appointed AVP for human subject protection |
Sarah Mumford, director of the office for the protection of research subjects at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, has been appointed the University’s associate vice president for human subject protection, effective December 1. Read more about her appointment.

Flags will be lowered for Michel Neracker |
University flags on the Eastman Quadrangle, near the entrance of Strong Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department, and the flags atop the Eastman Theatre at the corner of Gibbs and Main Streets, will be lowered on Thursday, November 13, for Michel Neracker, a physician assistant in the orhtopaedics and physical performance department at Strong Memorial Hospital, who died on September 25. Neracker joined the University staff in 2014.

All faculty and staff can join the Paul J. Burgett Intercultural Center on Tuesday, November 11, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. for the next LGBTQ Life Faculty and Staff Coffee and Tea Social at the Burgett Intercultural Center, Room 305, Douglass Commons. RSVP isn’t required, but is appreciated by November 7.

Hearing aid discount eligibility during open enrollment |
If you enroll in VSP Vision Care during open enrollment, you will be eligible for a discount on hearing aids through TruHearing as an additional VSP exclusive member extras benefit. If you are interested in obtaining this discount for 2026, enroll in VSP by November 10. For more information about this discount, visit the Total Rewards website. Bid on exclusive experiences and items—donated by Simon Business School students and faculty, and local businesses— as part of the 34th annual Simon Secret Santa silent auction. All proceeds support Simon’s Secret Santa Fund, which helps fulfill holiday wish lists for local Rochester families through community partners. Stop by Room 202, Schlegel Hall, between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. to peruse items through Friday, November 7. You can also bid directly here.

Bridge Art Gallery reception |
Attend a reception for the Bridge Art Gallery’s upcoming show, Happiness Is… on Wednesday, November 5, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the Romano Room (1.9041), Medical Center. The show is a collaboration between the Medical Center’s Department of Psychiatry and Pediatric Behavioral Health and Wellness, and features artwork from local youth. Learn more and register.

This free annual symposium provides state-of-the-art information to individuals with lupus and their families. URochester faculty, staff, and trainees interested in lupus are also welcome to attend on Saturday, November 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Helen Wood Hall auditorium.
