Can exercise help chemo brain?

For patients undergoing chemotherapy, an exercise “prescription” helped them maintain daily steps and stay mentally sharp, according to new Wilmot Cancer Institute research.

For faculty and staff

Apply by March 23 for student course development projects

URochester instructors are invited to apply for funding to work with a continuing undergraduate student this summer to codevelop new learning materials or activities for a 2026–27 course. The Teaching Center provides the student’s six-week summer stipend, on-campus housing, and up to $500 in materials. Applications are due March 23.

Academic Excellence opportunity for faculty

Interested faculty are invited to apply for the Associate Vice Provost for Academic Honesty Education & Outreach, a leadership role advancing a culture of academic integrity. The position leads education, training, outreach, and policy alignment efforts, working with faculty, graduate instructors, students, and academic units to promote a proactive, educational approach to integrity. Learn classical meditation techniques

URochester students, staff, and faculty can attend these free, introductory meditation sessions led by John Covach, the Arthur Satz Professor of the Humanities, director of the Institute for Popular Music, and a professor of theory at the Eastman School of Music. Sessions take place at 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, and Sunday, March 22, in Dewey Hall, Room 1-305.

Kingian Nonviolence series begins Monday

The MK Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence will host an introduction to Kingian Nonviolence on Mondays from March 23 to April 20, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The program, which will be held at the Gandhi Institute, 929 South Plymouth Avenue, will explore the core principles and real-world applications of nonviolence. Screening of Fred Kuwornu’s We Were Here

Acclaimed artist and filmmaker Fred Kuwornu will present his latest documentary, We Were Here, the Untold History of Black Africans in Renaissance Europe, at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, in the Gowen Room, Wilson Commons. The film interweaves art history with social narratives, offering a fresh lens on the European Renaissance and the complex tapestry of Black presence often overlooked in conventional historical accounts.

Cutler Lecture: 'The Rise of the Strongman Presidency'

Join the Democracy Center and the Department of Political Science on Wednesday, March 25, for “Trajectory of Power: The Rise of the Strongman Presidency.” Will Howell, professor and dean of the School of Government & Policy at Johns Hopkins University, provides a sweeping account of the rise of presidential power in the United States. The lecture, part of the Cutler Lecture Series, starts at 5 p.m. in Wegmans Hall, Room 1400.

Faculty and Capstone Concert features senior dance majors

URochester’s Program of Dance & Movement presents the annual Faculty and Capstone Concert from March 26–28 in the Sloan Performing Arts Center. Join the senior dance majors as they perform their capstone projects on various interdisciplinary topics. Artist-in-Residence Leonard Perez and URochester adjunct instructor Dylaina Young will also present new choreography. Tickets are $10 or free with your URochester ID.

Daily yoga classes

Daily yoga classes—offered by the Mindful University Project, Yoga Vibe, and the Goergen Athletic Center through May 8—provide a welcoming space to build strength, ease stress, and cultivate presence, supporting your well-being. Open and free to all full-time URochester students and R-club members (part-time students, faculty, and staff who join the R Club membership).

For students

Leveraging study abroad for career readiness

The Center for Education Abroad and the Greene Center host a discussion on leveraging international experience to demonstrate career readiness today, March 18, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

All Campus Judicial Council interview deadline

Interested undergraduate students should sign up by 11:59 p.m. EST tonight to schedule an interview for the All Campus Judicial Council, the Students‘ Association’s judicial branch. Email sa_chiefjustice@u.rochester.edu for further details.

International student drop-in: Summer plans and pizza

Student support staff will provide guidance to international undergraduate students with questions about summer planning on Thursday, March 19, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in Douglass Commons, Room 401. Students can stop by anytime, have a slice of pizza, and talk with representatives from the International Services Office, International Student Academic Affairs, and the Basic Needs Hub. Red Watch Band training

The next training session for Red Watch Band—a bystander intervention program focused on promoting safety around alcohol and other drugs—is on Wednesday, March 25, at 3:30 p.m.

The Apeiron Project offers two opportunities for students to get involved with the Office of the Vice President for University Student Life: the University Student Life Advisory Committee and Post-Graduation Employment. Applications are now open for both opportunities.
