Get all your course materials automatically

This fall, the University is introducing UR Essentials, a new program that provides all your required textbooks and course materials before the first day of class. Instead of buying books separately, the cost is now covered through tuition. Physical books will be bundled for easy pickup, and digital materials will be available on Blackboard. Be on the lookout for an email from Barnes & Noble confirming your courses and method of delivery later this summer.

The Students’ Association will host an informational town hall about the program from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, in the Humanities Center, Room D. Program staff and representatives from Barnes & Noble will be on hand to discuss the program and answer any questions.

S/F deadline is April 28

Monday, April 28, is the last day to declare the S/F grading option for one of your spring 2025 courses. Visit the Advising Handbook web page to learn more about the S/F grading option and contact your college advisor with questions.

Summer opportunities, resources, and housing

Students staying in Rochester for the summer have various in-person, virtual, and off-campus resources and opportunities available to them. Find everything you need to know about activities, getting around campus, services, and more on the Summer Session Campus Life website. Check out fun and engaging events, medallion programs, local trips, pop-ups, and more on the Wilson Commons Student Activities Summer Programs website. And subscribe to Summer Highlights, a Wilson Commons Student Activities newsletter published weekly during the summer season to promote events and resources.

Housing reminder: Current undergraduate students wishing to stay in on-campus housing this summer should register online through StarRez. The priority registration deadline is May 1. More information is available on the Summer Housing website and the Summer Housing Fact Sheet.

Students with additional support needs may seek assistance by completing a resource request form from the Student Support Basic Needs Hub. Demonstrated need, availability of resources, reason for needing to remain in Rochester, relevance, and timing of the request will all be considered when allocating resources.
