Update from the Office of Residential Life on Student Belongings

First and foremost, Residential Life wants students to know that if they were unable to move their belongings out of campus housing before March 22, they are still secure. Additionally, the amount and delivery time of the pro-rated room and board refund is not tied to possessions still being on campus.

Residential Life staff has identified which students and rooms still have items left behind and those students were recently emailed in effort to determine a plan for retrieving their belongings. At this time, students and families can no longer come to campus to pack and load their rooms because of COVID-19 travel restrictions. Residential Life will be in touch when campus pick-ups are again permitted and can be coordinated.  If the travel ban continues for an extended period of time, belongings may have to be boxed and stored in order to allow summer cleaning of the residence halls to begin.

Further communication will be forthcoming from Residential Life if students’ items need to be stored. For the time being, students who do have belongings in rooms on campus are encouraged to respond to the recent email from Residential Life, or be in touch at housing@reslife.rochester.edu; Eastman School of Music students should email reslife@esm.rochester.edu.
