EVENT: Lecture by an expert on horticulture trends in Australia, sponsored by the University of Rochester Arboretum and the Certified Nursery Professionals Program of the GardenScape Professionals Association

Heather Pryor, an internationally known horticulturalist who is an expert in producing hybrid plants and flowers, will speak about her Sydney, Australia, gardens and the flora there at 5:30 p.m. Friday, June 25. Her talk, titled ďAn Aussie Looks at Horticulture Down Under,Ē will be held in Strong Auditorium on the University of Rochesterís River Campus.

The illustrated lecture will offer an overview of landscape trends in the Sydney area, and detail what plants in Australia can thrive in the Rochester climate. Pryor is known for creating hybrids, especially of the Louisiana iris, an American wildflower that has been planted recently in a special Iris Friendship Garden in Highland Park. Pryorís lecture is sponsored by University of Rochester Arboretum and the Certified Nursery Professionals Program of the GardenScape Professionals Association.

Tickets, which can be purchased at the door, are $5 for the general public and $3 for master gardeners and certified nursery professionals. A limited number of free passes are available for University faculty and staff.
