Comedian and actor Hal Sparks will perform stand-up comedy at 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, in Strong Auditorium on the University of Rochester's River Campus.

Sparks was a member of the famed Second City Troupe in Chicago before moving to Los Angeles to perform in comedy clubs. He hosted Talk Soup on E! Entertainment Television and is one of the stars of such VH1 series as I Love the 90s, I Love the 80s, The 80s Strike Back, and I Love the 70s. He also appears in the Showtime series Queer as Folk.

Sparks's film credits include Dude, Where's My Car and Dickie Roberts, Former Child Star. He also provided the voices for two animal characters in Dr. Doolittle 2.

Tickets for Sparks's appearance are $20 for the general public; $12 for University of Rochester faculty, staff, and graduate students; and $8 for University of Rochester undergraduate students. They are on sale at the Common Market in Wilson Commons on the River Campus and at the door if not sold out in advance. The comedian's appearance is sponsored by Campus Activities Board.
