A new exhibit by Rochester painter and mixed-media artist Kate Fisher develops themes that she sees as the subtext of her life. The exhibit opens Monday, Oct. 3, in the Gallery at the Art & Music Library on the University of Rochester's River Campus. It is free and open to the public.

She titled the exhibit "SUBTEXT" and used old personal documents and photographs in her collages on display. She explained that the process of collage "with all its tearing, cutting, stitching, gluing, reconfiguring, and piecing together, has given me an intangible comfort and sense of satisfaction."

Fisher has exhibited her work at Rochester Contemporary and at the High Falls Gallery. She works as an art therapist at Hillside Children's Center and in private practice.

Exhibit hours are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; noon to 5 p.m. Saturday; and noon to 10 p.m. Sunday. The gallery is located on the ground floor of Rush Rhees Library. Fisher's exhibit continues through Tuesday, Nov. 1.
