University of Rochester's Sigma Delta Tau sorority and Delta Upsilon fraternity are sponsoring a pancake dinner to raise funds for Prevent Child Abuse America, an organization dedicated to fighting domestic violence.

The dinner, which is titled, "Tired of Danforth (dining center)?" will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 25, at the Delta Upsilon fraternity house on the University of Rochester's River Campus. Several varieties of pancakes will be served, including plain, fruit, and chocolate chip.

Prevent Child Abuse America (formerly the National Committee to Prevent Child Abuse) was established in 1972 to build a nationwide commitment to preventing all forms of child abuse. Through the support of the Advertising Council, Prevent Child Abuse America (PCA) has played a leading role in spreading the message of child abuse prevention to the American public and in encouraging involvement in the cause. Nationally recognized as one of the most innovative leaders in child abuse prevention, PCA and its local affiliates have worked to implement direct service programs in hundreds of communities around the country, as well as to help shape national and local policies to build support and funding for prevention programs.

The University's Sigma Delta Tau chapter, whose national organization supports PCA through both programming and monetary donations, holds an annual philanthropy event to contribute to PCA. In the past, Sigma Delta Tau has sponsored a 5K run each spring for this purpose. "This year, we wanted to do something a little different, something that would include more of the campus community," says sophomore and Sigma Delta Tau president Susan Mao.

Admission to the dinner is $5. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Common Market in Wilson Commons on the University's River Campus or at the door. For more information, contact Sigma Delta Tau at sn004i@mail.rochester.edu.
