January 29, 2003

Philip Profeta has been named corporate director of purchasing for the University of Rochester and Strong Health.

Profeta has served as director of materials management at Yale-New Haven Health System in New Haven, Conn., and as assistant vice president for administration for Strong Health, where he handled materials management for Highland Hospital.

He also has served as associate director of the Rochester Regional Hospital Association and has worked for companies in California, Texas, and Maine in the fields of supply chain management, e-commerce, group purchasing, and creation of strategic alliances.

"We're very fortunate to have someone with Phil's extensive background in purchasing, who, in addition, is familiar with health care nationally and with our own University," said Ronald J. Paprocki, senior vice president for administration and finance.

Profeta holds bachelor's degrees from St. John Fisher College, and completed the Managed Care Executive Program at Kellogg Graduate School, Northwestern University.
