Mary-Beth Cooper, senior associate dean of students at the University of Rochester, has been promoted to the post of associate vice president and River Campus dean of students, effective July 1, according to Vice President and University Dean of Students Paul Burgett.
In this reconfiguration of her current position, Cooper is responsible for coordinating program, policy, and budget planning processes in several units of the Division of Student Affairs and has direct supervisory responsibility for staff and programs in the offices of the River Campus Dean of Students, the Interfaith Chapel, Wilson Commons and Student Activities. Additionally, she will have responsibility for matters relating to program design and performance of River Campus Dining Services.
"Mary-Beth Cooper has established herself as a thoughtful and superbly effective advocate for students," Burgett said. "This opportunity enables the University, generally, and its students, especially, to benefit from expanding her portfolio of responsibilities and extending her range."
Cooper came to the University two years ago from her position as vice president for student affairs at St. John Fisher College in Rochester. She holds a doctorate in higher education administration from Michigan State University, and is currently enrolled in the Simon School's M.B.A. Executive Development Program.
