From Capitol Hill to JPMorgan Chase, the political science graduate traces a career shaped by URochester and driven by public purpose.

Heather Higginbottom ’94 has built a distinguished career at the intersection of public service, policy, and philanthropy. From Capitol Hill and the White House to the State Department, CARE USA, and now JPMorgan Chase, the University of Rochester graduate has become a respected voice in how governments, nonprofits, and businesses can partner to strengthen communities and expand opportunity.

Higginbottom—head of research, policy, and insights for corporate responsibility at the financial services firm—sits down with current political science major and mock trial captain Katie Young ’26. Together, they talk about how URochester’s rigorous academics, cross-disciplinary opportunities, and history of changemakers gave them the confidence to ask bold questions—and the preparation to pursue meaningful solutions.
