The University is again sponsoring the annual FIRST LEGO League Championship Tournament, in which the top 36 regional teams of six- through 16-year-olds will compete to design and build robots that can turn doorknobs, shoot soccer balls, or complete an obstacle course.

Trustee commits additional $1 million to scholarship
Trustee Cathy Minehan and her husband, Jerry Corrigan, have committed an additional $1 million to support the scholarship they established in 2004. The scholarship provides assistance for students in the School of Arts & Sciences with significant financial need, and preference is given to underrepresented minorities, athletes in good academic standing, and those pursuing research in the social sciences.

Veteran and Military Family Services Office opens
There has been a 50% increase in the number of veteran students enrolled at the University since 2010. To better serve those students, and the family members of veterans, the University will celebrate the opening of the new Veteran and Military Family Services Office this Veterans Day.

Intercultural Center named to honor Paul Burgett
The Intercultural Center has been named to honor alumnus, dean, and University leader Paul J. Burgett. Earlier this month, the Board of Trustees paid tribute to Burgett ’68E, ’72E (MA), ’76E (PhD), by naming the center on the occasion of his 50th year at the University.
