The gift will support the creation and implementation of the iZone, a collaborative, technology-rich space that will provide students with programs, services, and resources to explore their ideas and develop innovative projects for social, cultural, community, and economic impact.

David R. Williams, widely regarded as one of the world’s leading experts on human vision and pioneer in the use of adaptive optics technologies for vision applications, serves as the William G. Allyn Professor of Medical Optics, director of the Center for Visual Science, and dean for research in Arts, Science & Engineering.

The combined master’s degree ceremony will give master’s graduates from October, March and May an opportunity to walk across the stage and individually celebrate their academic achievement.

Holly G. Crawford has been named the University of Rochester’s senior vice president for administration and finance, chief financial officer and treasurer. University President and CEO Joel Seligman announced her appointments at an event on Oct. 21, and she will begin in the roles on Jan. 15, 2016.

The newly converted all-gender restrooms are located in Wilson Commons and in academic buildings and student residence halls throughout River Campus.

Robert Clark (center) has been appointed provost, succeeding Provost Peter Lennie (left), who will step down in June 2016. University President and CEO Joel Seligman (right) announced the appointment today, adding that Clark will serve in the dual role of provost and senior vice president for research, and will step down from his current role as dean of the Hajim School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

In recognition of the continuing collective philanthropy of Mark and Carolyn Ain, the Center for Entrepreneurship will be named the Ain Center for Entrepreneurship.

University of Rochester Trustee Ani Gabrellian '84 and her husband, Mark Gabrellian '79, have committed $2 million to establish a directorship for the University’s newly created Humanities Center.

The Nicholas George Endowed Professorship in Optics will honor the professor emeritus and former director of the Institute of Optics. The professorship was established by a gift from George's former student Milton Chang, with an additional commitment from Joseph W. Goodman, the William Ayer Professor Emeritus at Stanford University
