
University launches center for renewable energy
The University of Rochester is combining scholars, researchers, and resources from more than 15 academic departments and multiple schools to create the Center for Energy & Environment (CEE). Its purpose is to improve energy systems and to understand the impacts of energy technologies on the environment and human health.
University of Rochester sets tuition rates for 2015-16
Tuition for University of Rochester undergraduates in The College will rise 2.8 percent to $47,450 in the 2015-16 academic year. Room and board will be $14,294, a 4.8 percent increase. The total cost of attendance increase is 3.3 percent.

University named Tree Campus USA for fifth straight year
The University’s Horticulture and Grounds Department achieved the Tree Campus USA title by again meeting the program’s five standards, which include maintaining a tree advisory committee, a campus tree-care plan, dedicated annual expenditures toward trees, an Arbor Day observance and student service-learning projects.

A ten-member advisory committee made up of representatives from leading high-technology companies, industry and academia will meet for the first time this week.

Testani named assistant dean, executive director of Gwen M. Greene Career and Internship Center
Joe Testani succeeds Burt Nadler, current director of the Greene Center, who announced his intent to retire last year after 16 years in the position. Testani will join the University in June 2015.

Russell Peck to receive award from Medieval Academy of America
The Kindrick-CARA Award is presented annually to a member of the organization for their leadership in developing, organizing, and sponsoring work in medieval studies. Peck has been a faculty member at the University for 54 years, during which time he has received numerous commendations.

Robin and Tim Wentworth make $3 million commitment to endow directorship of Institute for Data Science

EPA recognizes University for waste-reducing efforts
The WasteWise program helps organizations and businesses apply sustainable materials management practices to reduce municipal and industrial wastes. WasteWise participants reported preventing and diverting a total of nearly 7.6 million tons of waste from being disposed in landfills or incinerators in 2013.
