
Students demand better racial climate at the University
About 150 students and supporters marched peacefully across the River Campus on Friday to demand that “the University of Rochester’s administration implement immediate and lasting changes that will reduce intolerable acts of racism that students of color endure at our University.”

Robert Clark named 10th University provost
Robert Clark (center) has been appointed provost, succeeding Provost Peter Lennie (left), who will step down in June 2016. University President and CEO Joel Seligman (right) announced the appointment today, adding that Clark will serve in the dual role of provost and senior vice president for research, and will step down from his current role as dean of the Hajim School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

The Meliora Challenge campaign surpasses $1.2 billion initial goal
On the way to $1.2 billion, the University has met—and is currently exceeding—its campaign goals for faculty ($350 million) and the Annual Fund ($130 million). Campaign support to date has established 93 new endowed professorships throughout the University, which has exceeded the original goal of 80.
Statement from President Seligman on 2015 LLE funding
President Seligman issued a statement in response to the fiscal year 2015 Omnibus Appropriations bill released by the House of Representatives Appropriations Committee on Dec. 9. The House of Representatives is planning to vote as early as Thursday on the measure, which would then go to the Senate. Current government funding runs out on Dec. 11.
