Students celebrate World Poetry Day with on-air readings
Students and tutors from the University of Rochester’s Language Center were on local radio this week to mark World Poetry Day with a celebration of poems in Arabic, Korean, Portuguese, and American Sign Language.
Poetry a ‘powerful catalyst for dialogue and peace’
The United Nations created World Poetry Day to celebrate poetic expression in the world’s many languages. In honor of the day, University of Rochester students at the Language Center share some favorite poems in the languages in which they were written.
Language Center celebrates one-year anniversary
Language Center director Teresa Valdez speaks at an event Tuesday celebrating the center’s one-year anniversary. Located in Douglass Commons, the center’s mission is to raise intercultural awareness and promote the 18 languages offered on the River Campus.
