All University students, faculty, and staff are covered by travel assistance services when traveling for University-sponsored or supported activities abroad—at no additional cost. Properly registering your international travel ensures you can take advantage of this benefit.

Travel insurance coverage overview

Travel assistance provides support services in case of emergencies at no additional cost, including:

  • Emergency medical services
  • Security evacuation services
  • Emergency travel arrangements
  • Information services

Travel assistance vs. health insurance

Travel assistance is not the same as health insurance. Travelers should understand what their individual health insurance does and does not cover while abroad. Review our Checklist for Travelers and visit our Health and Wellbeing page or additional health insurance considerations.

We recommend you familiarize yourself with your travel assistance coverage prior to travel, and print and carry your travel assistance ID card at all times.

Need proof of coverage?

If you’re required to show proof of evacuation and repatriation coverage to obtain a visa or other travel document, you can request a letter online. But in order to receive this letter, your travel must be considered University-sponsored or supported
