‘Community Engaged Research and IRB Review’ will be held on April 24, UR-HRPP Educational Forum

OHSP will host their next UR Human Research Protection Program (UR-HRPP) Educational Forum on Friday, April 24thth from 12 pm to 1 pm, ‘Community Engaged Research and IRB Review’. Register here.  The session will be recorded, with captioning added, for later viewing.  Questions can be directed to Sarah Mumford.

It can often feel like human subject research regulations are incompatible with community-engaged research, particularly in cases where individuals may be both a research team member and a research participant. However, by breaking down the regulations and understanding key components for the researchers and the IRB we can work together to create protocols that meet researchers’ objectives, meet regulatory criteria for IRB approval, and result in efficient review by the IRB. This session will focus on breaking down those key components and discussing tips for IRB submissions to reduce the burden on participants, researchers, and the IRB.
