On October 24, the Susan B. Anthony Center Interim Director, John Cullen, PhD, spoke at the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) webinar Allyship in Practice: Leadership Panel on Learning to be an Ally.
As a featured panelist, Dr. Cullen shared his knowledge as an experienced ally in academic medicine. He participated in conversation about his own journey to allyship, how to continuously improve allyship practices as a leader, and the importance of exploring individual identity to authentically act as an ally. This webinar was a part of the AAMC IDEAS Learning Series, which provides leaders with information on how to effectively implement diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies in their leadership.
Dr. Cullen has an extensive background in advocacy for LGBTQ healthcare and gender equity, holding a Graduate Certificate in LGBT Health Policy. He continues to use this knowledge as he works to promote the social justice initiatives of the Susan B. Anthony Center.
