Responsible and Ethical Conduct of Research
The ethical and responsible conduct of research is critical for excellence, and public trust, in science. The University of Rochester is committed to educating and supporting members of our research community to uphold the highest ethical and professional standards of research.
All Principal Investigators (PIs), faculty, students, postdocs, and staff engaged in research are required to comply with funding agency requirements for RCR training.
The University of Rochester’s Responsible and Ethical Conduct of Research Plan provides a University-wide framework for RECR/RCR education and sponsor-required training expectations. The plan is intended to support investigators, program directors, departments, schools, and research teams as they identify training options, develop grant-specific RCR plans, and document completion.
Because sponsor requirements vary, investigators and program directors should review the applicable funding opportunity and award terms for each proposal or award. ORISE is available to help interpret requirements and support development of proposal- or program-specific plans.
