Implementing Thinking Classrooms in High School Science

Implementing Thinking Classrooms in High School Science
This PLC is open to all high school science teachers (grades 9-12). We will be reading a chapter a week from Building Thinking Classrooms (Liljedahl, 2020), and using its framework. Each PLC session will focus on one chapter with selected chapters including:

  • Chapter 11: How Students Take Notes in a Thinking Classroom
  • Chapter 12: What We Choose to Evaluate in a Thinking Classroom
  • Chapter 13: How We Use Formative Assessment in a Thinking Classroom
  • Chapter 14: How We Grade in a Thinking Classroom

Participants will independently create materials between sessions. We will share what we’ve developed and engage in meaningful discussion around our implementation, our intention for implementation, design choices, and effectiveness of classroom application.
