What do grades really mean? Which assignments should I grade?
This PLC is for secondary teachers who are ready to collaboratively reflect on their grading practices. Formative assessment and feedback based on success criteria can be separated from summative assessment and grades in order to foster intrinsic motivation and student reflection. Participants will implement elements of standards-based grading and reflect on the impact on student motivation and achievement. We’ll use excerpts from Standards-Based Learning in Action and other texts to develop a grading system that works for students, not against them.
