2024 Keynote Speakers
Introducing our 2024 Keynote Speakers:

Beth Segers – Founder of Pie R Squared
Beth Segers is the brainchild of “Pie R Squared”, a math tutoring program with attitude. It is the brainchild of Beth Segers, a Wall Street financial analyst and a 30-year veteran tutor at Nativity Prep in Jamaica Plain. The program’s goal is to serve students who don’t have access to private tutors or pricey enrichment programs and to bridge what Robert Moses, of the Algebra Project, famously dubbed, “the algebra gap.” Math fluency and confidence, Segers believes, “is the key to inner-city kids moving into engineering and tech careers that are going to lift the boat for them and their families”.

Dr. Cicely Woodard – 2017 Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching
Dr. Cicely Woodard is an experienced teacher leader who has taught secondary mathematics since 2003. She has spent most of her career teaching in middle schools in Tennessee. Currently, her passion for students learning math content through relevant, real-world contexts is evident in her classroom in Springfield, Missouri where she teaches high school mathematics. Students in her math classes develop critical thinking skills while engaging in challenging math tasks that require them to justify their thinking and critique the reasoning of others through small group work and writing about math. Cicely believes that learning math can help her students face life’s challenges with confidence.
