Area of Focus: High School Mathematics (Algebra, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, Transition to College Math and Statistics)
Brittany has been teaching math at East Upper School for the past 10 years in the City of Rochester. She participated in the Phase II Noyce Master Teacher Fellowship through the University of Rochester during which time she developed a strong passion for providing equitable opportunities for all students in STEM education. Brittany believes that learning is social and it is important for students to engage in mathematical discourse to deepen their understanding of mathematics. The foundations to her daily practice are grounded in an inquiry-based approach to teaching and learning in which students explore and construct their understandings. She believes it is important to embrace mistakes as opportunities to learn and to develop a growth mindset in her students. Brittany has a core belief that all students are able to learn and do math at the highest levels and it is her job to help her students live up to their potential.
