Enhancing Student Engagement and Understanding Through Projects

Enhancing Student Engagement and Understanding Through Mathematics Projects
“When will we ever use this in real life?”  Instead of avoiding this question, what if we used it to inspire learning?
This PLC explores how to turn that common student challenge into an opportunity by designing real-world modeling projects that help students apply what they learned in meaningful and relevant ways.  We’ll explore a variety of projects, both self-created and AI-enhanced, that promote critical thinking, technology use, and student ownership through choice and exploration. Together, we’ll test these projects, reflect on their design, and discuss their effectiveness as end-of-unit assessments. Participants will create their own project, analyze the results, and receive feedback from others.  The group will focus on learning from one another, sharing ideas, and continuously improving teaching practices in a supportive environment.
