Experience First: Making Math Meaningful
Join our 9–12 Math Professional Learning Community: Experience First: Making Math Meaningful – Students learn best when they can connect new ideas to experiences they’ve already had. In this PLC, we’ll explore the Experience First, Formalize Later approach to math instruction—an engaging way to help students develop deeper conceptual understanding before moving to formal definitions and procedures. Together, participants will work on math tasks, collaborate with colleagues, and design classroom experiences that spark curiosity, build connections, and strengthen student understanding. Join us to discover practical strategies and share ideas that make math more meaningful for every learner! (Note: The EFFL approach is presented in materials from mathmedic.com, but that strategy is also evident in many other curricula that we will explore)
