Greece Park-n-Ride

September 2009
A bus carrying University of Rochester employees pulls into Basil A. Marella Park in Greece a little after 5:30 p.m.  The passengers step off, smiling and Bus and Park-n-Ride userstaking in the sunny summer day.  Is it an office field trip?  A retirement party?  A volunteer program?  None of the above, actually.  It’s the environmentally-friendly Greece Park-n-Ride shuttle bringing people back to their cars after a long day of work.

If you live in or around Greece, the Park-n-Ride is a great way to get to work.  For only $1 each way, it saves you the hassle of rush-hour traffic, as well as saving money in gas and car wear for the trip.  If you take the bus every day instead of driving, you can even save money by not having to purchase a parking permit!  Plus, you’ll be reducing your personal carbon footprint by travelling with 20-25 other people instead of on your own.  The ability to sit back and relax for your morning commute, knowing you’re being environmentally and fiscally responsible is an experience you’ll want to repeat!

So why not give it a shot?  It benefits you, and it benefits the environment.  And, don’t worry: if you end up having to work late, UR Parking guarantees you a ride back to your car, free of charge.

The Greece Park-n-Ride leaves from the Fetzner Road entrance for Basil A. Marella Park at 7:25 a.m. each morning, and arrives at Strong Memorial at 7:50 a.m., and Highland Hospital at 7:56 a.m.  In the evenings, it departs from Highland at 5:02 p.m., Strong at 5:10 p.m., and arrives back at the park at 5:36 p.m.  Be sure to bring exactly $1 in a bill, quarters, dimes, and/or nickels, as the machine on the bus cannot make change.  Just look for the RGRTA bus sign in the parking lot off Fetzner Roadd, directly in front of the skate park and tennis courts.
