Move-In Recycling Programs
A temporary recycling program for carboard boxes and Styrofoam packaging during first-year move-in that occurs during move-in at the start of each fall semester
When students move in to campus, there is an influx of cardboard boxes and packaging material. This program helps to ensure that boxes are properly recycled and offers an option to recycle foam temporally. EcoReps are here to help during first-year move-in.
2026 Move-In Recycling Program Dates: Monday, August 24 and Tuesday, August 25.
What is recyclable during this event?
- Clean, flattened cardboard boxes. Tape is okay.
- Block or molded Styrofoam material only. No glue or tape.
Styrofoam is only recyclable through special collection programs. During student move-in, the University partners with Thermal Foams to recycle Styrofoam collected during this time period.

- Water, grease, paint, or chemicals
- Packing peanuts, rolled foam, or other materials
