Earth Day: Personal Computer and Electronics Recycling
WHEN: Friday, October 24, 2008
TIME: 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
WHERE: South end of Park Lot on River Campus
Computer monitors, VCRs, cellphones, and other electronics equipment contain lead, chromium, cadmium, mercury, and other materials that are potentially harmful to the environment. On Friday, October 24, Facilities and Services will provide University students, faculty, and staff with an opportunity to recycle their personal electronics in an eco-friendly way.
Bring your desktop and laptop computers and other electronics to the south end of Park Lot on River Campus from 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Event staff will be present to help unload vehicles.
Televisions and fluorescent lights, or kitchen and personal appliances (toasters, microwaves, hair dryers) will not be accepted at this event.

- Laptops
- Computer monitors
- Hard drives
- Printers/scanners/fax machines/personal copiers
- CD players/radios/stereos
- Cellphones/pagers/PDAs
- DVD players/VCRs
- Video gaming systems
- iPods and other MP3 players
- Typewriters
This disposal service is designated for students and staff to recycle their personal "eWaste" only; no departmental items. University departments wishing to schedule routine computer disposal can do so any day by calling the Facilities and Services Work Control Center X3-4567. There is no fee for this service.
