November 2009
UR Unplugged is a four-week energy saving competition. From Oct. 20 to Nov. 16, groups of on-campus dormitories competed against each other to see who could conserve the most energy compared to previous year's energy use. The results this year show that the dorms used 91.3% of overall energy compared to last year during the same time period.
Weekly winners receive monetary prizes for their hall council, provided by Residence Life. The overall winner wins free tickets to a finale concert featuring student-performance groups. The competition is sponsored by Grassroots, Residence Life, and Facilities.
This year's UR Unplugged winners are the Community Living Center and Alpha Delta Phi. The students at CLC used 85 percent of the overall energy used during the same time period las year and Alpha Delta Phi used 86%.
