Petros Tzeferacos (left), an associate professor of physics and astronomy, a senior scientist at the University’s Laboratory for Laser Energetics (LLE), and director of the Flash Center for Computational Science, and colleagues from Oxford University and the University of Chicago have replicated in a laboratory setting conditions that exist within galaxy clusters. Zero-Cost Heroes
Open Education Week 2022 wrapped up last week, but the River Campus Libraries (RCL) is continuing the celebration. For the remainder of this week, the libraries will recognize individuals who are championing resources that are low- or no-cost and are easily accessible. Monday’s heroes were the RCL Course Reserves Team, which works to ensure equitable access to course materials that might not be readily available. And today’s champion is the Warner School’s Justin Russotti ʼ19W (PhD), who has made seven texts available through the library’s ebook reserves. Voices of XR: Kavya Pearlman
Kavya Pearlman, known as the “Cyber Guardian” in extended reality (XR) circles, is the founder and CEO of XR Safety Initiative, a global nonprofit that promotes privacy, security, and ethics in immersive environments. She is an award-winning cybersecurity professional and has pioneered security awareness in the metaverse and many baseline security and privacy standards for XR. Webinar to launch accreditation self-study
The University is currently in the process of renewing its institutional accreditation with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). As an MSCHE-accredited institution, Rochester secures its designation as a qualified institute of higher learning and is granted access to federal funding. The first part of the MSCHE process includes a two-year institutional self-review to explore key components of the University, including student learning experiences, institutional mission and goals, organizational governance, and much more.
