“We know that the safest (sleep) for babies is kind of co-rooming but not necessarily cosleeping because even a simple sheet over a baby’s face—a newborn’s face especially—could be enough to cause a suffocation and a death,” says Elizabeth Murray, an assistant professor of clinical emergency medicine and of clinical pediatrics.

Arts, Sciences & Engineering’s academic honesty liaison advises students to be wary of predatory contract cheating websites that market themselves as academic support, tutoring, or homework help. These sites may be geared more toward providing—and often selling—answers rather than helping you learn.
Nominations for new deputy vice provost for academic affairs position
The Office of Academic Affairs led by Joan Saab, executive vice provost for academic affairs and interim dean of the faculty of AS&E, is accepting nominations of faculty for a new position of deputy vice provost for academic affairs. It is a temporary position with a 50 percent administrative appointment for two years beginning October 1, with a paid monthly stipend while continuing faculty responsibilities at 50 percent appointment. The deputy vice provost will join an existing team responsible for academic strategic planning, accreditation, assessment, policies related to academic personnel, oversight of faculty tenure and promotion process, leadership of faculty development programs, and recognition of faculty scholarship.
Applications are open for the Clinical and Translational Science Institute KL2 Career Development Award, which provides two years of support for early-career, multidisciplinary clinical and translational scientists. The program fosters the transition of KL2 scholars to independent careers as clinical and translational investigators. Submit letters of intent by Wednesday, September 28, 5 p.m. EDT.

The Susan B. Anthony Center is accepting nominations for the University’s 2022–23 Undergraduate Women’s Leadership Awards until Sunday, October 9. International Education Week funding
Grants are now available to help fund programming during the month of November that celebrates International Education Week and the benefits of international education. This includes lectures and programs which highlight international academic programs and research, in addition to those that encourage the integration of the domestic and international student body. This grant is open to students and departments University-wide. Grants up to $500 will be awarded and are sponsored by the Office for Global Engagement. Apply here by October 14.
Masking when around other people indoors is strongly encouraged, especially for those who are at increased risk of severe illness if they become infected.
