Awards celebrate community diversity and inclusion efforts
The Presidential Stronger as One Diversity Awards honor Rochester faculty, staff, and students, as well as members of the Board of Trustees and the Rochester community. The awards recognize those who have supported the five institutional equity, diversity, and inclusion priorities and helped ensure a welcoming and inclusive environment at the University. Visit the Institutional Office of Equity and Inclusion’s website to read about this year’s recipients who were honored at a ceremony earlier this month.
“The Body Project” is an evidenced-based body acceptance program offered in a group setting that provides a safe space for all women to confront and challenge unrealistic appearance ideals through group discussion and interactive activities. The program, which runs for four weeks beginning March 14 in the UHS Building, seeks to give participants knowledge in developing a healthier body image and self-esteem. It is open to undergraduate and graduate student women. Nonbinary students are welcome but should know that this course is designed for participants for whom being a woman is a part of their lived experience. Registration is required.
Pet therapy at Eastman
If you’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed come pet some cute puppies on Thursday, March 16, at the Eastman Student Living Center orchestra pit. Therapy dogs will be there from 6 to 7:15 p.m. along with free UHS Health Promotion Office stress relief goodies while supplies last.
Spring is business plan competition season at the Ain Center
The Ain Center is hosting three business plan competitions this spring. Find full details at the links below and email aincfe@rochester.edu with questions.
New York Business Plan Competition is a statewide intercollegiate competition with several rounds, open to all currently enrolled college students in New York state. The deadline to apply is March 20.
Mark Ain Business Model Competition is the University’s signature business plan competition open to all currently enrolled University students. The deadline to apply is April 13. The first prize is $10,000 and admission into the University’s student incubator.
Forbes Entrepreneurial Competition is the University’s business plan competition for undergraduate engineering students. At least 50 percent of a team’s members must have declared majors within the Hajim School. The deadline to apply is April 13. The first prize is $5,000.

Learn about commuter gear for biking or walking
Boost your biking skills with “Wheels on Wednesday,” a series of free, 15-minute online classes that cover a wide variety of cycling topics. “Commuter Gear for Biking or Walking” will be held on March 15 from noon to 12:15 p.m. via Zoom. Explore graduate program offerings at the Warner School
Attend a Warner School of Education and Human Development virtual admissions information session on Wednesday, March 15, from 5 to 6 p.m. to learn more about graduate programs in counseling, educational leadership, education policy, health professions education, higher education, human development, online teaching, program evaluation, and teaching. Register for the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge
The J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge will be held on Thursday, May 25, at 7 p.m. at Innovative Field, formerly Frontier Field. Participants can walk or run the 3.5-mile race with the University team. The entry fee is $38 and includes two shirts. As a corporate event, this is only open to University employees and graduate students. Register here under the “University of Rochester” team by April 21. The University will submit teams of the fastest runners, but everyone can walk or run at their own pace.
