As the University’s Commencement Ceremony approaches on Friday, May 17, we’re spotlighting the stories, accomplishments, and perspectives of some members of the Class of 2024.

Students, alumni receive national merit-based awards for study, research, and teaching

Rochester undergraduates and alumni will travel the world as teachers, students, and researchers after receiving merit-based national awards during the 2023–24 academic year. Find the full list here.

Language Center operating remotely on Friday

The Language Center will operate remotely on Friday, May 17, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Staff will be available to assist you at the virtual office. Connect here.

Webinar on turning family food fights into freedom

Join Well-U and registered dietitian Jill Chodak on Tuesday, May 21, at noon, for help turning rushed and stressful family dinners into meals that can shift focus to connection, joy, and peace. The interactive presentation will explore the division of responsibilities, navigating after-work time crunches, and building a balanced plate with strong food preferences. Register here.

Summer applications for tuition reimbursement

If you are attending an outside college or university, be sure to submit your tuition reimbursement application within 30 days of the start of the course. You can visit the tuition benefits website to download the application and learn more.

Visit the ‘All of Us’ research program mobile exhibit

The “All of Us” research program mobile exhibit will be on the Medical Center campus behind the Saunders Research Building on Thursday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The public is invited to stop by to learn about the program, which aims to sign up one million volunteers nationwide to share different types of health and lifestyle information that can inform and speed up health research and medical breakthroughs.

Virtual talk on mental health and dimensions of well-being

Visit the Center for Community Health & Prevention’s Facebook page today, May 16, any time after 11 a.m. as Tosalin Wilson, director of prevention and community engagement at the Mental Health Association of Rochester/Monroe County, presents “Recognizing Mental Health Issues and Finding Lifelines to Get Help.” The pre-taped presentation will help viewers learn about different mental health challenges, the eight dimensions of well-being, and local resources for support. The talk is a special event for Mental Health Awareness Month.

iZone Commencement open house

Join the Barbara J. Burger iZone for an open house celebration directly following Commencement on Friday, May 17, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Celebrate the work done at iZone this year and honor graduating seniors by chronicling the work they have done during their tenure, with displays of their work in the studio.
