Here are updates to shuttle schedules, Commencement Day services, and the Safe Ride program:
Spring shuttle schedules will end on Thursday, May 15, with summer shuttle schedules beginning on Monday, May 19.
On Friday, May 16, Commencement Day, shuttles will operate from River Campus parking lots and the Eastman Living Center to Fauver Stadium between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. Medical Center shuttle routes will run on their regular schedule.
For the first time, the University’s Safe Ride program will extend into the summer months, with one van operating nightly from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Safe Ride stops on the River Campus, the Medical Center, the Eastman School of Music, and residence halls. Fast-track your master’s or advanced certificate application at “Accelerate UR,” an on-site University-wide admissions event on Tuesday, May 6, from 4 to 6 p.m. in Schlegel Hall. Connect with program representatives, explore graduate study options, and get personalized guidance to accelerate your next academic step. Registration is required.
Sexual misconduct campus climate survey closes May 2
Last week, the University launched a sexual misconduct campus climate survey. Participation is voluntary, but all Rochester students are strongly encouraged to complete the survey, which closes Friday, May 2. It aims to assess the prevalence and nature of students’ experiences with sexual and relationship violence, harassment, and other forms of sexual misconduct. Additionally, it seeks to gather students’ knowledge and opinions regarding the University’s resources and available options. Individual responses remain confidential. The de-identified results will be published on the University’s website in compliance with New York State law. These results will inform policies and programming to foster a healthy, safe, and nondiscriminatory environment at Rochester.

The Host a Grad program is designed to celebrate graduating students by pairing them with a host when their loved ones cannot attend their graduation ceremony. Hosts offer support by cheering on the students during their special day, capturing memorable moments, and helping share the joy with the students’ loved ones. How do we find links between different artworks and inspire viewers’ responses to what they see? Join Memorial Art Gallery staff for a dialogue about exhibition curation and art activation in today’s museum world. Goergen Institute AI T-shirt design competition
On Friday, September 19, the Goergen Institute for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence will host a 10th anniversary celebration as part of Meliora Weekend. All Goergen Institute friends, students, and alumni are invited to join; details and registration forthcoming.
In honor of the anniversary, the institute is hosting an AI T-shirt design competition for current Rochester students and Goergen Institute alumni. The winner of the competition will receive a $500 prize, and their design will be used for the 10th anniversary commemorative T-shirts. To enter, submit your design here by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, May 16. Only one submission is allowed per entrant. Read through all the instructions and disclaimers before submitting.
Context Conference at Eastman
The Eastman School of Music will host its second Context Conference November 6–8. This year’s theme, “Resonate: The Best Harmony Takes All of Us,” frames how music can be used to educate and engage communities from K-12 through professional-level organizations.
The conference is soliciting proposals for sessions, due Friday, May 16. To submit a proposal and learn more about registering for the conference, including associated costs and fees, visit the Context Conference website.
