Students are coming off interesting summer internships, where they gained real-life experience in fields they hope to pursue after graduation.

Psychologists at the University’s Mt. Hope Family Center have found that mothers who experienced more types of maltreatment as children are more critical of their ability to parent successfully.

East Upper and Lower Schools —under a new partnership with the University—will welcome students back to the classroom September 8. The University is serving as the Educational Partnership Organization (EPO) for East starting this school year, with Shaun Nelms ’04W (MS) ’13W (EdD) leading the effort as EPO superintendent.

Nearly 1,300 freshmen forming the Class of 2019 moved in to their new homes on the University’s River Campus and Eastman School of Music this week. The incoming class comes from 47 states and 83 countries. At both Eastman and River Campus, current students were on hand to welcome and assist their new classmates as they got their first taste of their new home. Welcome to Rochester, Class of 2019!

University Dean Paul Burgett leads the incoming class of 2019 in their first performance of the alma mater, “The Genesee,” joined by members of the University’s a cappella ensembles, President Seligman, and other campus leaders.

Freshmen and their parents from all over the country will arrive on River Campus on Tuesday, and be greeted by student volunteers who will unpack vehicles and bring luggage up to each student’s dorm.

While much is known about the famed suffragist’s stance on social equality and slavery, Susan B. Anthony also had lots to say on a variety of issues that still resonate today.

As students return to the University of Rochester campus later this month, two scheduled events may be newsworthy: Tuesday, Aug. 25 is Freshman Move In Day. Thursday, Aug. 27 is Wilson Day, a day of community service for incoming University students.
