As the summer draws to a close, we are looking forward to being back with all of you at our home beside the Genesee!

We are beyond excited to serve as your Students’ Association president and vice president. As the student-elected voice to the administration, we are a helpful resource for answering any questions as well as voicing both concern and praise.

A special welcome to the Class of 2023 to our community this fall! We can’t wait to greet you as you begin some of the best four years of your life. Once you arrive on campus, take time to discover and enjoy all that this University has to offer, including the countless academic and nonacademic resources. We invite you to introduce yourself to the esteemed faculty and your fellow students. The friends you meet here will last a lifetime. While you have chosen our University to continue your academic journey, we urge you to get involved in the multitude of activities and organizations our University has to offer outside of the classroom (think of student government as one). We encourage you to use your time at this institution to venture into new and unfamiliar territories, discover your passions, and broaden your outlook on the world.

In the spirit of creating a stronger and more inclusive community on our campuses, we encourage you to take part in understanding the vast cultural backgrounds that many students on this campus come from. It’s important to express your ideas and conduct your actions with integrity while upholding the principles of this institution.

Feel free to send us an email, visit us in the Ruth Merrill Center in Wilson Commons, come to Senate meetings on Monday nights, or schedule a lunch with us at sa.rochester.edu if you have any questions or concerns or if you just want to chat.

We hope you have a wonderful rest of the summer and enjoy every hotness of it, because the cold in Rochester will soon be upon you. See you soon and safe travels!

Welcome back to another year at the Eastman School of Music and the University of Rochester! We are your Eastman Students’ Association president and vice president this year, and we are thrilled to say that we’ll see you soon! We are also looking forward to welcoming the Class of 2023; over the next four years, you’ll flourish as a musician and scholar, make friendships and professional connections that will last a lifetime, and have a whole lot of fun. We can’t wait to welcome and meet you all at orientation. We hope to be able to answer any questions and provide whatever guidance you need along the way.

The Eastman Students’ Association connects and supports Eastman students in a lot of ways, including everything from event planning to representing the student body in administrative meetings and the University of Rochester at large. And, most importantly, we want to support you and make sure that Eastman is an ever-improving college home for everyone. Our inboxes are always open if you want to reach out, and every student is encouraged to attend our monthly Town Hall Meetings to stay up to date and make sure your voice is heard!

We want to encourage you, especially if it will be your first year, to soak up everything Eastman has to offer. Introduce yourself to your peers and colleagues and learn from everyone’s unique perspectives. Join some of the awesome clubs on Eastman Campus or River Campus—there are lots to choose from and something to interest everyone! Seek out the opportunities that interest you and take advantage of every moment.

It is easy to spend all day in a practice room, but Eastman is a truly amazing and unparalleled school, and your time here will fly by, so make the most of it!

See you soon!
