Frequently Asked Questions about Mandatory Training
How do I locate my training?
This training is administered online utilizing the student Blackboard portal. Students receive emails from Blackboard about their assigned training and must utilize their University Active Directory credentials to log in. To locate this training, navigate to ‘Organizations’ found on the left side of the platform and look for the training titled ‘Title IX & Sexual Misconduct Prevention Training for First Year Students’ or ‘Mandatory Refresher on Title IX and Sexual Misconduct Prevention for Student Athletes and Student Leaders’. If you see both, then you are assigned to take both trainings.
Why is there a hold on my student account?
First-year students are required to complete their mandatory training. Those who do not complete the training by the due date receive a registration hold on their student account. This hold is removed once you complete your training.
Do I need to complete this even if I'm a professional student?
Yes. All new students are required under several state and federal laws to complete comprehensive online student onboarding to educate about domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, and sexual assault, and other topics.
I took this training when I was an undergraduate first year student, now I'm a graduate first year student - do I still have to take this?
Yes, as you are considered a new student in a new program.
I took a leave of absence, and am back as a Junior, do I still have to take this?
Yes, because the University considers you a new student once you come back from a leave and have to re-enroll in a previous or new program.
I thought I completed my training, but I have a hold, what should I do?
First, we always recommend logging back into Blackboard and checking your gradebook. If all three modules are not showing green or marked as complete, then you likely missed a module or part of a module. Additionally, all three quizzes required a minimum 80/100 (or 8/10) to be marked fully complete. If you received less than an 80 (or 8/10), you have not fully completed that module and must re-take it to receive a passing grade.
How are holds removed?
Once the system marks you as fully complete, it triggers an automated hold removal process that runs several times each day. Therefore, no individual requests for hold removals are granted. We recommend that students check their UR Student Account periodically for any updates on the removal of holds or restrictions.
I'm a student athlete and a first year student, do I have to take both trainings?
Yes.
