New Students
All first-year undergraduate, graduate, and transfer students at the University are required to complete online training that covers Title IX prohibited behaviors, bystander intervention, how to report sexual violence, and how to connect to University, Rochester, or national resources. This training is administered online from Title IX staff utilizing Blackboard and is issued each fall and spring semester to all new students.
Failure to complete this training by the due date results in a ‘Title IX Training’ hold placed onto the student’s account which prohibits them from registering for classes.
Student-Athletes and Student Leaders
In compliance with the New York State Education Law Article 129-B, all University of Rochester Student Athletes, Student Leaders and officers of student organizations are required to complete training on domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, or sexual assault prevention, which is administered online from Title IX staff in Blackboard and are required each academic calendar year.
Student Leaders that do not complete their training by the due date are prohibited from registering events or reserving event space on campus.
Athletes that do not complete their training by the due date are prohibited from competing in matches, competitions, or practices.
All University Employees
In compliance with New York State Labor Law Section 201-G, all employees of the University are required to take Harassment Prevention Training and Title IX Training via MyPath issued by the University. The course provides interactive scenarios and examples of harassment and discrimination and it encourages all of us to be active in ending these harmful behaviors. This course also includes reminders of existing laws and University policies and systems that address these complex issues. This is an annual training for all employees.
